How We Safely Process Online Medicine Orders
To ensure that medicines are supplied appropriately, Lir Pharmacy follows a pharmacist-led review and approval process.
- Each medicine product page provides information about the medicine, including what it is used for, who it is and is not suitable for, dosage and side effects.
- Before you can order a medicine, you must complete a short consultation for that product and confirm that you are over 18, that you have read the product information and will use the medicine in accordance with the PIL, and the age of the person the medicine is intended for.
- Your order is then placed on hold and reviewed by one of our registered pharmacists, who may approve it, contact you for more information, or decline it where it would not be appropriate to supply.
- A medicine is only dispatched once a registered pharmacist has approved it.
- If a medicine cannot be supplied, we will inform you of the decision, explain the reason and arrange a refund for the declined item.
Minimum Age for Purchasing Medicines Online
Customers must be 18 years of age or over to purchase non-prescription medicines through the Lir Pharmacy website.
Medicines intended for children may be purchased by an adult, provided the product is appropriate for the intended user's age and the pharmacist is satisfied that supply is suitable.
Our pharmacists reserve the right to request additional information or decline supply where necessary.
Medicine Supply Records and Data Protection
As a pharmacy registered on the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) Internet Supply List, Lir Pharmacy maintains records of all online non-prescription medicine transactions in accordance with Irish pharmacy regulations.
These records include details of each transaction, confirmation that the purchaser is aged 18 or over, acknowledgement of the requirement to follow the medicine's packaging and Patient Information Leaflet, and verification that the quantity ordered is appropriate for personal use, taking account of any relevant previous purchases. We also maintain a record of the registered pharmacist's review and authorisation of supply.
All medicine supply records are securely retained for two years from the date of supply, in accordance with applicable regulatory and data protection requirements.
Records are available for inspection by the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) and the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) where required by law.
